We thought that Paul & Shannon’s chance meeting and engagement video made for a great story to share! Enjoy!

“I met Paul in 2005, through match.com. He contacted me first, I was intrigued by his profile, and messaged him back. After a week or two of emails we began talking on the phone getting to know each other a little better. One of the things we both noticed about each other were our accents– his: Long Island, mine: West Virginia. He asked me out for dinner after a few weeks, at the Heartland Brewery at the South St. Seaport here in NYC and we talked and talked and talked for hours. We remember them having to ask us to leave because it was closing time!
Paul decided in the Fall of 2007 that he’d found his match (no pun intended!) Having grown up in West Virginia and attending WVU I am an intense, devoted Mountaineer sports fan as is my family. Paul was an easy convert and he too is a huge fan. In the football season of 2007, the Mountaineers were given a bid to the Fiesta Bowl game in Arizona. Our family tradition is to spend the new year at whatever bowl game WVU is in. We decided while in Arizona we’d take a day trip to the Grand Canyon. My two sisters, my father, my good friend Marsha and her boyfriend, and Paul & I set out early on New Years Eve day to visit the wonderous site.
After walking around for an hour or so, we made our way to a perfect picture spot and Paul asked someone to take our picture. Well, this wasn’t any ordinary pose. Just as Paul switched back & forth from one side of me to the other, to my confusion, his final pose was kneeling down on one knee. At that moment tears immediately welled up in my eyes as he pulled out the ring and asked me to marry him! This was a complete surprise to me, but to no one else. They all helped to make our proposal so very special and we luckily have a video and photos to cherish the memory always.
We’re getting married this May in Morgantown, WV and look forward to our new life together in NYC.”
